2009 MLB Preview: Tampa Bay Rays

Tampa Bay Rays

IF (3.5/5) - Upgrade with Burell at DH. Pena and Longoria provide great offense at the corners. Navarro is a good enough offensve catcher. I'd rather see higher OBP from Iwamura and Bartlett. Aybar could play some SS or 2B.

OF (3.5/5) - While Crawford and Upton are set, I'd be surprised if Kapler or Joyce do not take over for Gross in RF. Either way, there is good depth here.

SP (4.5/5) - Such an impressive young rotation, with arms to spare. Kazmir, Shields, Garza, and Sonnanstine are a great 1-4. Price and Hammel will compete for the #5 spot, with Niemann also in the mix.

RP (4.5/5) - The bullpen is also really good. Even with Percival's health issues, there are so many good arms here. They added Cormier, Nelson, and Shouse, and USM alum Chad Bradford will be back mid-season. Niemann and Hammel are out of options and may end up in the bullpen if Price wins the rotation spot.

Wildcards: Kapler, Aybar, Bradford

[Disclaimer: I do not claim to be an expert on your team. I think it's fun to do this stuff before a season starts and then see how close (or how far off) I was. If you spend time from your day insulting us, telling others to insult us, or posting in a blog or messageboard about how wrong our opinions are, then we are flattered!]
