2009 MLB Preview: Philadelphia Phillies

Philadelphia Phillies

IF (4/5) - Really good IF, especially if Utley is ready to start the season, which it appears he should be. Feliz's power was down a little last year, as was Ruiz's average.

OF (4.5/5) - Ibanez replaces Burrell for an upgrade in LF. Victorino and Werth are the other starters with Jenkins and Stairs as reserves. Doesn't get much better than these five guys.

SP (4/5) - Hamels is having his elbow examined. Blanton has health concerns. Moyer is 46 years old but won 16 games last year. Myers is... Myers. And Kendrick may lose his job to J.A. Happ or Chan Ho Park. Yet somehow, this could be a very good rotation.

RP (4.5/5) - Lidge was great last year. Add in Durbin, Romero, Madson, Condrey, and at least one of the losers for the #5 rotation spot, and ths bullpen is pretty solid. Even Eyre pitched well for the Phillies last year, though Romero is out for 50 games and Eyre will really be tested early.

Wildcard: Chan Ho Park

[Disclaimer: I do not claim to be an expert on your team. I think it's fun to do this stuff before a season starts and then see how close (or how far off) I was. If you spend time from your day insulting us, telling others to insult us, or posting in a blog or messageboard about how wrong our opinions are, then we are flattered!]
