So far, so good, as far as clean racing goes. If memory serves, the only three on-track incidents this far were McSpinny and Charlie Espenlaub in the Dempsey Mazda and whoever was in the Orbit DP (Hindery? Petty? Danger Mouse?), both doing harmless spins and just one car with mechanical trouble.
Well, the exact moment I typed the word "harmless" above, we have a two-car spin, involving the GT class leader. It appears that Matt Plumb badly misjudged the braking of car in front of him (who was on cold tires) and out-and-out punted him. Taking lessons from Paul Tracy this off-season? Ha! I kid because I love. Sort of.
Anyway, no full course cautions thus far, which are the bane of long distance racing. Hours under yellow equals hours of crappy racing and no distance records. Nobody wants that.
A good fight is shaping up between both Brumos cars, the Penske car (who I believe stole that Crown Royal sponsorship from one of last year's teams?), and the 02 Ganassi car. Pruett sits back in the pack, biding his time, which is probably just fine for the next 20 hours or so.
Hang in there, everybody. We've got a long way to go.
