Robin Miller has given IndyCar fans one of the most (in number) prediction filled reports we've seen for the year; and as it is the new year its time for a furious flow of news to start happening. I'm not going to go through his predictions/sources but will mention that as of this morning one of the many rumors out there has been confirmed.
Mario Moraes will be driving for KV Racing in 2009 under primary sponsorship of Votorantim.
While we're not sure if this means he's officially taking over either Oriol Servia or Will Power's seat from 2008, we do see a new main sponsor which is good in this economy.
It does hopefully present us with one good bit of news. APEX Brasil wasn't used in this sponsorship and that means it should still be available for another driver/team to take advantage of.
Of course with it comes many questions:
-What of Dale Coyne's team, will Moraes be replaced, will Bruno be back after all his complaining?
-Will Moraes sponsorship/money be enough to help fund a 2nd car for Servia/Power?
and I have to say I give a big thumbs up to this pairing (KV/Moraes), because while many people may poo-poo him as a 'ride-buyer' they forget Moraes is incredibly young (20 years old) and hardly shows the characteristics of an aging-dreamchaser; instead he has a background resume full of racing, showed in the short 2008 season that he learns; he vastly improved from early season back marker to leading laps and constantly running in top 10 during the final races of the season. Now that he'll have Jimmy Vasser as a driving coach, I look forward to seeing what Moraes' potential can be.
