As a musician, a horror writer, and a sports nerd, it isn't very often that two of my hobbies can come together. (We did recently record a dumb song called "Christmas at Wrigley," if you're into baseball, Christmas, and pop-punk.) But if you are a horror fan and happen to have a special place in your heart for 80s slashers, you should check out the 1984 flick Fatal Games, also released as Olympic Nightmare.
With a group of athletes attending a special school, where they are training for the Olympics, things go awry when a maniac begins taking kids out with a javelin! It's no Friday the 13th, but it's pretty fun for a sports-themed slasher. A wonderful VHS-rip is currently available on YouTube. I can't think of a better way to prepare for the upcoming 2014 Winter Games in Sochi.
