Seriously though, that tennis match was kind of unfair

Now that I'm a little more awake...

I'm a Djokiovic fan, but Murray is easily my #2 dude. And I know I brought this up earlier, but I'd just like to point out that the Australian Open final is kind of unfair. We would never take the Final Four in the NCAA Tournament, have one game on Saturday, one on Sunday, and then the championship game on Monday. Both winners get that day off. I believe Murray had a huge disadvantage, and as a viewer, I'd rather see two players with equal rest time. I know Djokovic is pretty unstoppable right now, but still... I wish they'd consider changing this system.

to be fair, they both had 1 day off, Djokovich just had 2 days off, and also this is how its been for years, and Djokovich has been on the other end many times and still beaten Murray.

If you watched the tournament this year, no one was beating Novak, he was playing at an insanely high level. Federer was playing his best in years and still couldn't hang with Djokovich

Yeah, this is something I've never understood about tennis. Like, if the guy who plays earlier breezes through an easy 3-setter, and the guy who plays the later match a day later has a 5-set marathon, I've gotta guess that the all-time statistics would show a gigantic advantage for the guy a day earlier. Like, I'd bet it's a 90% win rate or more. Just because of the luck of the draw? That's idiotic.

No, I know. You've posted about it in the past too. I just wish we could've had at least a little drama. This was the most uneven final I've seen for sure.

Basiclly because of how big the tournament is, half plays on one day the other half the next day and eventually they need to connect the 2 so what they do is give 1 side 2 days rest vs. 1 for the other. All majors do this, so does march madness, except in march madness its 4 days rest vs 5 days rest when the sides match up.

captcha making me select pictures now, so theres that. Select all the pictures with popcorn. only 1 has it but I'm required to select the picture with corn too.

on the flip side this was the first time in over a decade I've seen a women's final go the distance and not just be straight sets of 6-2 6-3 or something like that and it was a great match.

We posted about the captcha last night. This tells me you have some GREAT Crackerjack commentary to catch up on some point. I kind of envy you for that.

to your point Andy, I haven't seen stats but you also have to wonder if better players win quicker. maybe the previous match went 5 sets because the winner isn't as good?

I did see a great statistical analysis that proved that the women's game has more parity because they play best of 3 instead of best of 5. in smaller tournaments men play best of 3 and have just as many upsets as the women's game does.

Yeah, there is certainly the argument to be made that a superior player will breeze through a semi final in 3 sets vs. a less superior player requiring 5 sets, but that could come down to luck of the draw, too (like, the guy winning the 3 setter beating a guy who upset a higher seed vs. the guy needing 5 sets to beat a higher seeded player due to a "chalky" bracket). But the 3 set thing does also support more upsets, because it's easier to get hot for two sets and beat a normally superior player. That can be true in men's or women's.

Uh, oh. #2 car in the tire barrier. Full course caution.

Wait... the 02, not the 2, right? Or did the 2 crash as well?
